Wisconsin has launched its Miles of Fun Giveaway with getaway packages, gas cards and one $2,500 grand prize to be given away through Sept. 5, 2010.

To enter, just complete an entry form and submit photos and a statement of 200 words or less about why or how fun originated in Wisconsin. All winners will be chosen at random.

Snap Away for Ohio Lake Erie Photo Contest

Got a great shot of Ohio’s Lake Erie region, or heading there soon? Amateur photographers are invited to submit entries for the Ohio Lake Erie Commission’s 2010 photo contest.

The “Life on Lake Erie” photo contest is open to amateur photographers age 16 and older. Digital images taken between July 9, 2009, and July 9, 2010, in and around the Lake Erie watershed can be submitted to the Ohio Lake Erie Commission (OLEC) through July 16.

Winning photographs will be featured on the OLEC Web site and will become part of the commission’s traveling photo gallery. The images will appear at prime Ohio shoreline locations throughout the year, including the University of Toledo’s Lake Erie Center in Oregon and the Lake Erie Shores & Islands Welcome centers in Port Clinton and Sandusky.

Ashley the SATW Traveling Teddy attended her first holiday cookie exchange this weekend, and got to pose with the once and future Cookie Queen, Leslie Laine. Leslie won the cookie smack-down last year, and repeated this year with double chocolate ginger cookies. Cookie competitors are members of the Ladies Discoursive and Digestive Society of Greater Cincinnati.

YUM! was Ashley’s verdict. The only thing that could have made them better was a big dollop of honey!

VisitBritain, the national tourist office for England, Scotland and Wales, is preparing to launch its latest travel campaign for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities. They’re stumped for a slogan, and are inviting the public to suggest a few words or a sentence that VisitBritain can use as tagline.
